What a great way to start 2023!
Group 1 Automotive and Sterling McCall Honda joined Superintendent Miller House and Principal Alicia Lewis as they surprised Mr. Chris Garner II with a Teacher of the Month award! Sterling McCall Honda General Manager, Kim Eddy, presented him with a gift basket full of goodies.
Mr. Garner has been teaching 7th grade math at Forest Brook Middle School for 2 years, but that is not the beginning of his time with the district. Mr. Garner was first a student at HISD, and now has come full circle to introduce students to the STEM field he loves. Mr. Garner’s colleagues tell us that he is the type of teacher who takes the time to learn his students' interests to ensure lessons are helpful inside and outside the classroom. He works hard to engage his students daily, and students say, "Mr. Garner is that teacher that makes you want to come to school and do your work and never get bored." He not only impacts students as a teacher but strives to be a positive role model. Mr. Garner wants not only for his students to succeed in school but also to be well-rounded individuals when they leave his classroom.
